A "Charming" Getaway

Over the years, selling at art shows, I've pitched my tent with several of the same friendly faces, time and time again. "Artists" have sometimes been labeled badly for being competitive, secretive, unfriendly and/or eccentric. They may not want to speak with you, as you may be "the enemy", wanting to copy their ideas. Or their art is just so very deep, we can't relate to who they are. While I have met very few of those incredibly "talented" folks ;o) , I have been very fortunate to become friends with some wonderful, warm, sharing, kind talented artists. One of those wonderful ladies is Mary Noelker. http://www.marynoelkerlampworkbeads.com/ We seemed to hit it off right off the bat. I just love running into her at shows, and trying to catch up with her whenever I'm in her town. ( She just happens to live in my sister's hometown of Danville, Ky) I ESPECIALLY love trading jewelry with her!! :o)

Back in September, she invited me and several other jewelry/ceramic artists to a getaway at her family's cabin on Lake Cumberland, in Ky. Knowing us all well, she knew we'd all be ready for some down time in January; after the holiday shows and before the Spring show rush. Then she came up with a great suggestion: a charm exchange! We're all going to make one charm for each person attending (8), and make our own charm bracelets over the weekend! I'm SO very excited!!! Since our weekend is in 2 weeks, I guess I better brush off the holiday dander and get back into the studio!!
Here are a few wonderful charms I found on ETSY, that will hopefully inspire you AND me!!!! Staci posts next Friday, but the following week, I'll post all my handmade charms before I head out for my "charming" weekend with the girls!
