Pampered Pooches "Ruff" It on a Bed of Gold
Posted on Thursday, August 7, 2008 by Jewelry making supplies New York City
Diamond-encrusted collars, gourmet food and extravagant Halloween costumes are by now familiar trademarks of our nation’s pet-obsessed. For those of you who can’t wait to paint Muffy’s toenails to match her new little doggy cocktail dress, the Jewelry Insider has discovered the perfect lounging accoutrement: a golden pet mattress. The Louis Vuitton pet carrier is so over, people.
According to The New York Times, Italian company, Magniflex, created the line after a wealthy Russian client requested a gold mattress for her Maltese. Jealous? Fido isn’t the only one who can get in on the act. If you have $30,000 lying around, you too can sleep on a bed of bling. Or take it down a notch like Marco Magni, son of Magniflex’s founder, who snoozes on the queen-size, silver model for only $4,000. What an under-achievor.
The doggie beds are made with a cover woven with 22-karat gold thread and are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. And aside from the obvious glam factor, the gold is also a proven flea deterrent. Eureka! Form AND function.
Prices range from $1,000 - $3,000. Or, in other words, a few year’s worth of Kibbles and Bits.
