Lady Gaga Moonwalks the Grammys

Looks like Lady Gaga's red carpet Grammy look took a cue from Giorgio Armani's moon-inspired 2010 couture line this week in Paris - except for the small fact that Mr. Armani designed the frock especiialy for Gaga.

"I am honored to be wearing Armani this evening," she said in a statement to Us. "The series of pieces Mr. Armani created for me are truly iconic; they represent not only beautiful fashion, but my spirit and essence as an artist. Mr. Armani is a fashion legend, and tonight would not have been the same without his touch, and his wonderful team."

Jewelry, well, is all a part of the dress but I'm keeping my eyes glued to the screen for costume jewels to match her duet partner - Elton John - during the show. Stay tuned!

Mission Dolores in San Francisco

Last week I went to San Francisco to show my work to the Artist Xchange gallery, located in the Mission district. I found a parking spot right by the Mission Dolores, so I went in and had a look around after my appointment. It's one of those local places of interest that I've always wanted to go to, yet somehow never have. The original mission was founded in 1776, the construction of this building began in 1782, which here in California is positively ancient! It's the oldest surviving structure in San Francisco. You can read more about it's history here.

This is the new basilica, built right next to the old mission in 1918.

Inside the mission.

Old and new. Relatively speaking that is.

The most interesting part was the cemetery, which is small but a very peaceful spot in the middle of a busy city.

I almost forgot to mention that I'm now showing my work at Artist Xchange! So if you're in the Mission district check it out at 3169 16th Street, between Valencia and Guerro.

DSK's Everything Music II Bracelet

My second Everything Bracelet of 2010. While I'm away in Michigan, I hope to work on more of my Everything Bracelets & put necklaces on a hold. Please remember what I noted, orders placed after February 4th will be shipped in Early March, 2010! Because I'm going home to visit my family in Michigan.

I think you've all seen a lot of necklaces these past 3 months!

Minh & I are going to go decorate his new Seattle office now. I had 3 of his diploma's custom framed..costed me close to $800 ..0_0". But I figured I wanted this once in a life time gift to come from me. He worked hard & paid a lot for his education. It was also his Birthday, Christmas & Anniversary present for 2009. I'll post pictures on my personal blog when we hang them all up. I'll show you the new office & the awesome views he has of downtown Seattle as well. He lives minutes from Pike's Place, the Space Needle, & the ultimate downtown Seattle shopping: Pacific Place. Sometimes, I get jealous that I don't work in a corporate office. But then again...if I did I couldn't wake up at 10am everyday. lol My sleep schedule has not changed since college. I think it's a bit destructive, but I can't it! Sleep feels so darn good.

By the way Michael's Arts & Craft's Custom Framing is not so wonderful.
They take forever & they won't ever admit they're wrong if they made a mistake!
I ordered them before Christmas and they failed to deliver as they promised.
They just give you 100 excuses. The only people who can and will help you is the managers.

=/ boo custom frame shop!

But now to ease your eyes,
featured is a frequently requested Music Themed Bracelet

Wrapturous

The dew was still wet on the grassy field, but here, under the trees, the carpet of pine needles was soft and dry. She had woken up before the sun and watched the light change from colorless dark to blue grey to soft pink; she continued to gaze in wonder as the endless greens of the leaves appeared and intensified.

Her world had gone from black to technicolor; every morning it was the same. She wrapped her arms around her own shoulders in an effort to warm herself; the weak morning sun did not have any heat in it yet. Smiling, she began to walk back home.

It was enough to have light.

Everything Ocean-Water Bracelet

This Ocean/Water Everything Bracelet is 1 of 5 bracelets that I was commissioned for by an author named Bema. (Big time!) ;D

She initially contacted me 2-3 months ago, and I recently found the time to start her bracelet series. The theme are the 5 elements. Earth, Fire, Wood, Water, and Metal. What a great idea right? Writers have the best ideas, I tell ya! ^_^ I was so excited about this series. I can't wait to finish them all and share them with you here on blogspot.

I'm so honored to be working on 5 bracelets for her! You don't even know! I'm flattered that she likes my work. This bracelet is not for sale because it's reserved for her. I just wanted to share with you some projects that I do acquire over the course of the year : ) What do you think of the bracelet? I'm quite satisfied with my work!

alex garcia does gray ladies.

even though i downed a cup full of fizzy, lemony sleepy time medicine for my cold, i can't sleep. instead i'm burning my eyeballs online in the dark and lusting after alex garcia's work. not only does he paint these amazing gray ladies, he tattoos like a dream. i recently purchased some really lovely birch wood panels from a friend of a friend who owns the most amazing wood shop / magical saw dust den that used to be a casket factory. some of the panels are in thin long shapes and i've been thinking of just painting an arm or hand. i immediately recalled this above piece 'promises promises'. i love it for so many reasons, the honey comb, the scissors, the tattoos......

Jan Smith Jewelry

We recently became aware of a jewelry exhibition currently showing at Facèré Jewelry Art Gallery:
"JuJu Magic" runs from January 27, 2010 - February 15, 2010.

"JuJu Magic" is a contemporary jewelry art show featuring seventeen artists with magic in mind.

As the gallery describes it - Juju is a word of West African origin that refers to the supernatural power ascribed to an object or fetish. The object that contains the juju can then be used to cure ailments (good juju) or even exact revenge (bad juju). The artists of this "JuJu Magic" exhibition have created their own interpretations of this theme: from mnemonic devices for prayer and mementos of home to amulets for protection and charmed objects.

Some of the Jewelry Artists in this exhibition include: Allyson Bone, Nancy Bonnema, Jessica Calderwood, Susan Chin, Christina Goodman, Janice P. Ho, Judith Hoyt, Nicole Jacquard, Maya Kini, Christy Klug, Karen McCreary, Jan Smith, Cindy Sumner, and Cynthia Toops.

Let's take a look at some examples of the one-of-a-kind jewelry included in this exhibition -- Here is an adorable brooch made by Jan Smith called, 'Loves Me,' fabricated in sterling silver, enamel on copper, and 22k gold bimetal.

Jan has also contributed an exuberant neckpiece and earring set in sterling silver and enamel on copper called 'Protection From Crazy Makers.'

If you get an opportunity to visit this exhibition in person, let us know. OK?

benjamin cottman does dead artists.

diane arbus.
these tiny tiny portraits of dead artists by benjamin cottman have me drooling and doe eyed. i especially love the above one of diane arbus and the ones on his site of surrealists hans bellmer and man ray. they are like small graphite death masks speaking from beyond the grave......
